College football coaches are a special breed. They possess the qualities associated with effective business leaders, respected diplomats, accomplished professors, devoted parents, and trusted mental health counselors. Unlike so many of those professions, the performance of a college football coach is always on display, and always subject to constant public scrutiny.

Regardless of all their variations on a theme, all their innumerable colors, tones, and tempos, songs have the magical ability to connect us to our place in history and one another. No matter how we may be different, songs help us discover how much we are alike.

Those in leadership positions charged with overseeing a family, a community, or a nation have as common requirements the protection, provision, and inspiration of those they lead. The ones who are true to their missions seek to empower others rather than seek power for themselves.

Human curiosity is one manifestation of the Divine Spark within each of us. If we allow it, our curiosity will move us to imagine what has not yet been realized. In the same manner, faith motivates us to explore the things we imagine, despite trials and errors, in pursuit of further discoveries. So then, to be human is to be curious enough to imagine and to dream. Just as birds sing and dogs bark, we are made to dream of what could be. Those who do so for the betterment of others with no interest in being recognized are the unsung heroes of any age.
