Once again, Tallahassee has made national news with local musician Royce Lovett winning a spot on the reality TV show The Voice. As a longtime favorite of local venues and festivals, and having secured a contract as Motown Gospel artist, his career seemed to be headed in the right direction. And yet, he struggled against the inevitable labels that music execs and promotors use to sell to audiences.

We will revisit a conversation Royce had with Brien in August of 2018 in which he talked about the challenges he has faced and the determination he continues to draw from his family and his faith in God.

Local filmmaker Fred Rabboth will talk with Brien about his next film entitled The Waiting. Now in production, this is now Fred’s xxx film which features Tallahassee-based actor, Bill Kelly in the lead role.

Billed as a romance-thriller, the film tells the story of a hotel guest who makes a startling discovery about and romantic involvement with one of the hotel’s prior occupants.

The Walk To End Alzheimer’s comes to Tallahassee on Saturday, October 12 at Cascades Park. Alzheimer’s Association Development Manager Yasmin Khan and Event Chair Jordan Boroughs will talk with Brien about the importance of the event toward promoting awareness and raising much-needed research funding.
