August 30th 2014 – Mike Mincy and Sara Blumenthal

Capital City Youth Services provides a vital link between community resources and the youth population they serve. CCYS provides short term crisis shelter to 10-17 year olds, and counseling to families in crisis with youth 6 to 17 years of age across Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla, Liberty, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, and Taylor counties in north Florida. Mike Mincy and his fellow staff members will talk with Brien about the ongoing effort to work directly with young people through their “Going Places Street Outreach” program.

Sara Blumenthal will talk with Brien about Florida’s Guardian Ad Litem program and her work as Volunteer Coordinator. As a state-mandated agency, GAL provides protection and opportunities for children who are known to be at risk for abuse or neglect. The backbone of this organization is found in the inspiring devotion of the hundreds of GAL volunteers who are personally responsible for thousands of children and their families.
